Fishing is one of the most hazardous industries in the world. Every year between 20 and 30 fishermen lose their lives in UK and Irish waters. The vast majority of these fatalities are caused by man overboard, capsizing or major leaks and flooding. Joe Rothwell on recently being rescued from his sinking vessel off the coast of Cornwall:
‘It was such a relief to see the helicopter coming, and at that point we knew the MOB Guardian unit had done its job. We hope to get another fishing boat and head out to sea as soon as possible, and the first items of equipment we’ll buy will be a new MOB Guardian system and a life raft.’
